The race is on!

The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) hosts the annual Formula-SAE competition, which is an international event designed for engineering students. Formula-SAE requires students to develop, design and manufacture an open cockpit car, designed around the aesthetics of a formula-style racing car and is a very good example of what is called ‘Systems Engineering’. The ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science sponsors the ANU Racing team by matching dollar for dollar any donations that it receives from external sources in government and industry.

The Vice-Chancellor also supports this special project. However, this is a voluntary project and the students themselves raise all the extra funds to design, build and race the car. I hope the Canberra community can support the enthusiasm, dedication, and sheer design savvy of the ANU Racing Team in 2006.
